The hotel dates back to the 19th century has been extensively modernised and converted into the fine hotel that it is today. It is situated on the fringe of the medieval market town of Kendal. Catherine's Restaurant, named after Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII, opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner to residents and non-residents alike offering the very best of Cumbrian cuisine, using locally sourced fresh ingredients. There are 30 rooms in total at this charming hotel. Guests are welcomed in the lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out services and a hotel safe. Lake Windermere can be reached in 20 minutes by car as well as by train. Kendal Castle is some 30 minutes' walk away.

By car from the M6, take exit 36 onto the A590, signposted to South Lakes and Kendal. Do not take the left turn to Barrow but continue on the A591. Guests will pass a BP petrol station on the left, take the next exit signposted South Kendal, A6. Follow this road and guests will find the hotel on the left-hand side at the brow of the hill.
