Kos is a very popular holiday destination with British holiday makers looking for brilliant package holidays. Kos has something for everyone and welcomes families, couples and singles. Some areas on the island can be fairly quiet, however in the resort of Kardamena you will find some brilliant nightlife keeping you entertained all night long. Transfer times in Kos vary depending on which part of the island you are staying on but none are excessively long. The beaches in Kos are some of the best around with golden sands leading down to the clear waters edge. The beaches are very popular among both tourists and locals and offer a great place for you to go and relax and top up your tan. Sunbeds and parasols are all available for hire and there are plenty of water sports available to you. Accommodation in Kos is also good with a wide range of choices available to you. These include self-catering apartments and villas and hotels offering room only, half-board or all-inclusive.

Kos - Plenty Of Beach Activities And Water Sports To Enjoy

Kos beaches are very picturesque and perfect for relaxing on. However, if you feel that you want more activity then there are a number of water sports available. Many people choose to try the professional scuba diving courses that are available at some of the beaches in Kos. You get taught how to dive, how to use the equipment and taken out to your dive by professional divers and trainers. Other water sports available include snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding, swimming, hiring pedalloes or going on one of the many boat trips. If you prefer to try something else with your day then there are plenty of sites for you to go and visit, such as the 14th century Castle of the Knights located in Kos Town. There is also some gorgeous countryside that is perfect for walking and cycling. There are plenty of excursions through the mountains to visit villages such as Lagoudi. Boat trips are popular and take you to other resorts and other islands such as Kalymnos. Day excursions to Turkey prove popular for even more sites to see.

Kos - Plenty Of Places To Choose From For Evening Entertainment

Kos has a number of taverns and restaurants for you to choose from. A favourite cuisine is the traditional Greek food and seafood, however in some resorts you will also find a number of other cuisines such as, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian and a range of fast food. The nightlife varies depending on which resort you are staying in. Many resorts have pubs and evening entertainment in the form of live music however for a lively nightlife, head to the resorts of Kardamena and Kos Town. Here you will find nightclubs, pubs, taverns and discos offering live music, dances, shows, cocktails, karaoke and other entertainment. As with the nightlife, shopping is better in some areas than others. You will find souvenir shops, clothing shops, shoes, bags, perfume, jewellery and food available in at least on of the resorts in Kos. Public transport tends to be good with buses taking you around the island to various resorts and a number of taxis available offering reasonable fares. Care and motorbike hire are also available.

Kos - Long Hot Mediterranean Summers

Kos enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months on the island with an average temperature of 25°C although this commonly rises to highs of well over 30°C. May is the official start to the summer with temperatures at 21°C which quickly rises to 25°C by June. There is normally no rainfall over July and August and the evenings remain hot at highs of 22°C. July and August see 12 hours of sunshine a day which drops to around 5 hours a day in the winter. Spring and Autumn are pleasant times to come if you are not keen on very hot weather, with temperatures mostly ranging between 16-20°C. Winters tend to be mild in Kos with temperatures staying at around 10°C. Between October and May you can expect to see some rainfall but not to the extent that we are used to. December if the wettest month in Kos, however it still tends to remain fairly warm.

Evripides Village Hotel (Kos)
"The Hotel was good except for the pricey bar and snack prices, everything seemed to be 2 euros plus, even for the smaller items such as chocolate bars! One thing that is worth noting is the bus service into the town 1.60 euro per person for a single, so if you're only a couple it works out much cheaper than a taxi."

Carda Beach (Kos)
"The Carda Beach Hotel was absolutely fabulous! I was a bit apprehensive before going after reading some of the reviews on the net, however, as soon as we arrived I knew there was no need to be. The hotel was exactly how it looked on the pictures on the website. We stayed in a suite room with a sharing pool, which was very relaxing and definitely luxiourious. You do share the pool with eight other rooms, however having said that, there was no more than 3 groups around the pool at one time, which was good (often it was only us there!). The cleanliness of the rooms was fantastic, towels were changed every day apart from your pool towels (yes you are provided with pool towels), which were changed once a week or whenever you wished at an extra cost of 1 euro each time, which we thought was cheap! Bedding changed every day if you wished. Mini bar in room is free and topped up twice a-week. The main pools were the best I've seen, they were all really big and there were more than enough beds. None of that towels on beds the night before or anything. We didnt spend anytime at the main pool, due to the sharing pool that we had, but every time we passed it looked quite empty and quiet, which is good. The food in the hotel was brilliant and I would urge anyone to try all of the food, even if you dont know what it is! there was a lot to choose from, from either the main restaurant, the Italian restaurant or the Chinese restaurant. All three restaurants are gorgeous (and included in for all inclusive guests) but you do have to book the Chinese and the Italian restaurant the day before but well worth the wait! All the staff at the hotel are brilliant, especially the reception staff and the bar staff. Spyros and Pavel on the bar are really lovely and friendly, they dont like to keep people waiting on the bar for drinks so serve you as quick as possible! Overall we had the best holiday ever and would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone. Enjoy!"

"What a fantastic time! The transfers, flights and overall holiday were more than we could have expected. Although the majority of guests were from other european countries, we were made to feel more than welcome by all. The hotel staff all bent over backwards to help make the holiday perfect. The hotel, beach pools and food was fantastic! We will be booking early for 2 weeks next year as one was just not enough. Thanks for a great time."

"Hotel nicely situated, management and staff all extremely helpful and good fun. Very relaxed kind of hotel and very friendly, from cleaners to owners. We were also very lucky that the other guests were very friendly. If I were to have a gripe, it would be that the bathroom was very small and had a very unpleasant smell to it. The towels and bed, however, were changed very regularly."

Atlantica Porto Bello Royal
"We stayed for 11 days in early May 2009. The weather was sunny and hot on 9 out of 11 days. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel - great all inclusive. The main buffet was the best restaurant on the complex (we didn't try the Asian restaurant though as the menu looked un-appealing). The Italian was a buffet too, but more limited than the main buffet. During the day the pools are practically empty as everybody went to the beach to sunbathe which we thought odd as there were so many pools and thought that would be a main attraction. This does mean the animation team are usually out of sight from the pools and some of the atmosphere created by them was spread thinly if you didn't go to the beach. The evening entertainment was usually in the beach bar and wasn't up to other all inclusive hotels standards. We went on the bingo and music quiz night - it was okay but not brilliant. We didn't go to Kardemena as we had all we needed on site, but I don't think we missed much by not going - it looked a bit ropey when we travelled through it. I would recommend the place for a week - any longer might be a bit much (unless you take some DVD's for the evening). We only managed to get BBC world in B&W for the 10 days, the other channels weren't in English. Our room had a pool directly outside - this is a nice touch as you don't have to carry all your stuff to the pool plus you can use your pillows on the sun loungers! The only drawback was the fact we were in a bit of a main route from the hotel to beach, but it wasn't too much of a problem. Overall I'd recommend a stay here. "

"Lenaki has a beautiful garden with lovely pool and fantastic mountain views. Apartments are clean, though kitchen equipment is very basic. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Only drawback is the 20 minute walk into main town area, which might be difficult for some."

Ladikos Beach Studios Kardamena
"The first thing we saw when we arrived at Ladikos Beach Studios at 3 in the morning was a cockroach. First impressions aside, the room was not too bad - basic, but clean enough. Although, we did not have a balcony, which I was disappointed about. The pool across the road was nice and everything was in walking distance. All in all, for the price, a good place to stay."
