Limassol Resort Guide
Limassol – located on the south coast of Cyprus
Limassol is a resort perfect for couples, families and young groups of singles. Transfers from Paphos and Larnaca airports take around one hour and 15 minutes. This gives you plenty of time to look around at all of the scenery on offer and also gain an understanding of the location of the resort and you accommodation within the resort. Limassol does have many sandy beaches with the best being Dassoudi just 2 miles outside of the town. This beach has sunbeds, parasols and even modern changing rooms for you to use. Most of the hotels in Limassol are in the 3-star category, however there are also many 4-5-star hotels. You will also find a lot of apartments in Limassol offering a self-catering board basis option to you. Flights to Larnaca take approximately 4.5 hours.
Limassol – plenty of water sports to try
Dassoudi beach is home to some brilliant water sports. You will find scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, surfing, parasailing, jet-skiing and water-skiing. As well as this, there is also plenty of exploring to be done. There is a medieval castle and a few museums to look at. There are also plenty of excursions for you to enjoy such as visiting the Kolossi Castle, wine factories, the ancient ruins of Paphos or Troodos Mountains. Coastal boat trips are very popular activities and give you some brilliant sights.
Limassol – wide variety of restaurants to choose from
Limassol has some brilliant restaurants with a variety of cuisines on offer. You will find a lot of Cypriot cuisine as well as seafood. There are also other cuisines available such as Italian and British and a lot of fast food such as burgers and kebabs. The price of food tends to be quite reasonable. The nightlife is quite lively in Limassol, with plenty of bars, pubs and discos to choose from. Most of them also offer lively music, live music and evening entertainment. There are a number of shops in Limassol such as souvenirs shops, clothing, leather goods, shoes, bags and jewellery shops. Public transport in Limassol is good with many local buses running frequently. They will take you in and around Limassol into other major resorts. If you prefer to get a taxi then there are plenty to be found and they usually offer cheap rates.
Limassol - very hot temperatures in the summer months
Limassol is a very hot resort with temperatures sometimes reaching above 40°C. You are guaranteed to need high factor sun cream when visiting this destination. July and August are the hottest months in Limassol with average temperatures of 35°C. You will also have 13 hours of pure sunshine a day. Winters are very short and mild with January and February being the coldest months. Even though they are cold, they still have temperatures of at least 15°C. Rainfall only occurs 40 days out of the year but this is very short lived and the sun still tends to shine. There is not always a breeze in Limassol so many people decide to keep to the shade at times. The temperature will not fall below 30°C from June to September, leaving you with warm sea temperatures, making it perfect for water sports. The night also remains warm so it is advised that you get air conditioning in your accommodation.
