Playa del Cura - Located on the South-Western coast of the island

Playa del Cura appeals to mainly couples and families as it is a very peaceful and relaxing resort. Your transfer time can be anything up to an hour meaning you can get a feel for the location of your resort and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you travel through Gran Canaria. The beach consists of soft grey sand and calm waters, meaning that children can paddle in the water safely. There are many sunbeds on offer, however parasols are not available. Most of the accommodation in Playa del Cura consists of apartments and aparthotels that range from 2-5-star offering everything from self-catering up to all-inclusive.

Playa del Cura – calm and peaceful setting

Playa del Cura is a popular resort as it is so calm. The calm waters along the beach mean that water sports such as water-skiing, scuba diving and snorkelling are even more enjoyable. The clear water means that there is even more to see when it comes to snorkelling and diving. There are many walks that you can go on around the resort, taking in all of the scenery and if this is not enough for you then a walk to nearby Maspalomas is recommended to go and see the sand dunes. Tennis and hiking up the mountains are also popular. If you are looking for an excursion, then you can go and visit one of 3 water parks as well as many amusement parks.

Playa del Cura – plenty of places to eat and drink

There are quite a few restaurants offering international cuisine, as well as a few offering Greek and Canarian food. There are also many seafood restaurants in the resort. There are a few bars in the resort that stay open until late, however you will find that you get most of your entertainment from the accommodation. The livelier neighbouring Puerto Rico has a much wider choice of entertainment and evening activities and is easily accessible. There is one shopping centre that offers souvenir shops and sports shops. Puerto Rico again offers more shops for you to enjoy. There are many buses in Playa del Cura taking you into other resorts such as Puerto Rico and Playa del Ingles. These run every 20 minutes during the day and then hourly in the evening.

Playa del Cura – perfect summer weather

Playa del Cura is located in the south west, meaning it sees some of the best of the weather. It is very dry and hot in Playa del Cura with very little rainfall. The summer temperatures are around 28°C in August and September, with January and February still reaching over 22°C. There is rarely any rain in the south as it is so warm and dry. The north will see most of the rain, however the winds from the north do sweep down to the south, however this is welcomed as it keeps the temperatures stable. The rain normally falls between December and February but you still tend to get around 7 hours of sunshine a day. In the summer you will get around 12 hours of sunshine a day so there is plenty of time to have fun in the sun.
