Santo Tomas Resort Guide

Santo Tomas – located halfway along the southern coast of Menorca

Santo Tomas is a very friendly resort that appeals to older couples and families. People who enjoy quiet beach holidays without large crowds running around them will enjoy the resort the most. The transfer time for this resort from the airport is between 30 and 40 minutes. This gives you just enough time to look around at the scenery of Menorca and a chance to gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. There are two beaches in Santo Tomas. Both are fairly narrow, however they both have fine sands leading down to the waters edge. You will find both hotels and apartments in Santo Tomas as well as a few villas. They range from 2-4-star mainly but have all of the facilities that you would expect them to have.

Santo Tomas – mainly beach based activities

Santo Tomas is home to some brilliant beach based activities, mainly concerning water sports. The water sports you can try are windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, jet-skiing and sailing. There are plenty of excursions for you to go on if you enjoy them. These are town tours, boat trips, visiting prehistoric monuments, sightseeing and shopping in Ciudadela, walking and bird-watching, golf in Son Parc or even trips to an isolated cave. All excursions are different and there is definitely something for everyone.

Santo Tomas – many restaurants connected to the accommodation

Santo Tomas has many restaurants, however they are mainly connected to the hotels. You will find Spanish, Italian and British cuisines as well as a few fast food places. The only real nightlife in the resort is in the hotels. Many of the entertainment organisers put on shows to keep you entertained of an evening. The main shops in S\'Algar are souvenir shops and a couple of supermarkets for those of you who have gone self-catering. Public transport is fairly good with a regular bus service taking you around the resort in the peak season. There are also 3 daily buses to Mahon, 3 to Ciudadela and others to various other resorts where you can then try various activities, go shopping or go sightseeing.

Santo Tomas – a typically Mediterranean climate

Santo Tomas is blessed with long, warm summers, clear blue skies and hours of sunshine. Winter in Santo Tomas is still good as it remains fairly mild. Although there is rain in the winter, it is light and moderate. There are cool breezes that sweep across the resort maintaining temperatures and making it a lot cooler for you. Summer sees temperatures reaching 30°C with 11 hours of sunshine a day. Temperatures have also been known to reach 35°C, especially during August. Very little rain falls between July and September making it a very popular summer destination. During the winter, you may only see 5 hours of sunshine and temperatures will drop to 14°C. This is between December and January, however in March, temperatures start to rise again, reaching 18°C. It is very rare that it will rain for a whole day in Santo Tomas. When it does rain, it usually clears up very quickly.
