Menorca – the second largest of the Balearic Islands
Menorca is a resort that is perfectly suited for people of all ages. There are many resorts in Menorca but it is guaranteed that there is one for everyone. People of ages and peoples with all interests will enjoy the Menorca as it caters for all tastes. Transfer times will vary depending on which resort you are staying in. Menorca is only a 2 hour flight from the UK and is one hour ahead of GMT. The beaches in Menorca are very scenic and many people enjoy them. You will find that a lot of them offer water sports as well as parasols and sunbeds. In the summer months, these go very quickly, so it is important to get there early. The beaches are covered in fine, white sands that lead down to the crystal clear waters. Menorca offers a lot to you including scenery for scenic walks, entertainment in both bars and hotels and plenty of places to do some holiday shopping. All over Menorca, you will find apartments, hotels, aparthotels and even B&Bs. The hotels range from 2-5-stars and have all of the facilities that you would need. You will find a wide range of board basis available from self-catering to all-inclusive. The apartments are all also very popular and offer a self-catering board basis. All of the apartments have the relevant facilities such as a kitchenette, living area, bedrooms and bathrooms.
Menorca – plenty of activities to keep you busy throughout the day
Menorca has a lot of water sports available on the picturesque beaches. You will find that the majority of beaches have water sports for you to try and these include water-skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, parasailing, canoeing and even banana boat rides or rides on pedalloes. There are also plenty of boat trips to go on if you enjoy them such as trips on glass-bottomed boats. This enables you to see the marine life and even some shipwrecks and other artefacts. If you would prefer to stay on dry land, then why not try horse-riding. Many of the resorts offer this and it is a great way of getting around and seeing the sites. Beginners and experts can all have a go at horse-riding as there are riding schools in come areas. Horse-riding takes you to some brilliant areas that you would not normally go to such as the country paths and tracks. Walking and cycling are also good ways of getting around. There are also plenty of hiking routes that will take you around the nature reserves and give you some fantastic views. There is also plenty of space to try mountain biking with plenty of trails for you to try. Visiting the capital of Menorca is a must with some brilliant sites in Mahon. It has one of the largest natural harbours in the world and plenty of sites to see. The summer months also see a lot of Fiesta\'s bought to the resorts so this is definitely the time to go if you want to see some real local culture.
Menorca – some brilliant restaurants to choose from
Menorca is home to some of the best restaurants. All of the resorts have many restaurants that offer a wide variety of different cuisines. All of the restaurants have fresh produce and whether you eat in a restaurant, bar, café or pub, you are sure to enjoy your meal. You will find Spanish, a lot of seafood, Chinese, British, French, Italian, Indian, Catalan, Portuguese and Mediterranean foods in Menorca so you can see that there is a wide range for you to choose from. There are plenty of bars and pubs around Menorca, some resorts with more than others. You will also find a few nightclubs in some of the livelier areas that stay open until the early hours. The south coast tends to be more popular and lively with more things to do. There are some brilliant shops in Menorca where you will find everything such as clothing, shoes, bags, leather goods, electrical goods and souvenirs. Public transport in Menorca is good, with plenty of buses and taxis available to you. The buses take you around all of the resorts as do the taxis. Taxis are available 24 hours a day and usually offer good rates, however it is worth asking how much the journey is going to cost first.
Menorca – a typically Mediterranean climate
Menorca has very hot summers and some mild winters. There are over 300 days of sunshine a year with July and August being the hottest and driest months. There average temperature for these two months is 24°C although temperatures have been known to reach above 28°C. There are also between 8-11 hours of sunshine a day. Even in the winter months, temperatures are still around 12°C with 3-5 hours of sunshine a day. From the beginning of May to October, the temperatures will be high and there will be a lot of sunshine throughout the day. The evenings will cools down slightly, however it may still be very hot. The coastal breezes help to maintain the temperatures and keep you slightly cooler. Menorca is actually the coolest and wettest of the Balearic Islands, however it is still very warm and does not rain too much.
